			CHIL-JOTU

The computer chooses a word (usually nonsense) made up of the letters
contained in the word CHIL-JOTU, with the possibility that some letters
may be used more than once. This word may contain from 3 to 7 letters, as
you may elect. The selected word will not contain blanks.

You are to guess this word in 15 or less guesses, with hints given to you
after each guess as to the number of letters you have in the correct
places, indicated by + signs, and the number of correct letters that you
have guessed but which you show in the wrong locations, indicated by -
signs. The actual location of your correct guesses will not be indicated,
only that you have made a correct guess. For any one guess, you may put
letters into each possible position or you may choose to leave certain
locations blank.

You will be graded, both as to the number of guesses that you had to make,
and as to the time it took you to get the correct answer.

When the computer is ready for you to guess, a blinking dot, called a
cursor, will appear on the screen and the letters C H I L J O T U will
appear on the screen.

You are to position the cursor on any desired letter by using the joystick
and then to push the hit button. The selected letter itself will then
start to blink. You then move the cursor to any letter position on the
line where you next guess is to be placed (the computer will not let you
put your next guess on the wrong line), and then again push the hit
button, where-up-on the selected letter will appear at the selected
location. You may put letters down in any order. To indicate that you
wish to leave any particular letter position blank you simply position the
cursor at this position when no letter at the top is blinking and then
push the hit button.

If you change your mind as to any particular letter, all you have to do is
to select a different letter from the list at the top of the screen and
move it to the position of the letter to be replaced and again push the
hit button. Your earlier selected letter will then be replaced by this
new letter. Similarly, if you decide that you have made a wrong selection
before you have placed the letter, all you have to do is to move the
cursor to a different letter and again push the hit button.

When you have filled all of the letter positions, the computer will report
your partial success, to the left on the same line as your guess, and
ready itself for your next guess. Caution, you have only one opportunity
to place the finel letter to complete the guess, although you may change
your mind as often as you like as to the earlier chosen letters.
